Thomas: SF stunned by the nature, the cool breeze, big Redwood, (expected cultural mix & skyscraper)

Why are people not doing anything about it?

• Thomas: Situation is very complex - 7B people, not have a choice. Those who have wealth/privilege can solve climate. When people have to change, it’s hard. it’s too comfortable.
• Benoit (Ben): Individuals are pushing the responsibility to govt/corporations. Waiting on govt/corporations. Simple step - could.
• Rob - framework: Household, workplace, civics

• Ben: “judged” - have money, you can do it, you can’t change a thing. It’s really frustrating to hear these things… people have told Ben that.
  • 2 electric cars. “They pollute more than ICE.” Ben explains... airplanes & cows.
  • The fear of change… find a reason not to change.
  • I change my habits, I recycle/compost… in the hope that it’s done right.
  • “I don’t care…” Why is it cool to smoke? 10years… it's a drug. Chemical.
• Ben: Smoking starts as a social thing… chemical addictiveness…. (shame) bad habit to cut it
• Thomas: “Freedom” via Marlboro Man -- “Crypto” is freedom… the dreams/feelings/promises
• Thomas: Social aspect is strong, people want to be in a peer-group, it can change pretty fast… (mask) ostracized now… it’s too stupid not to do it... we are at the tipping point -- communities will accelerate in size… can’t predict the future -- WE NEED TO DO EVERYTHING THAT IS POSSIBLE. Counterfactual -- what happens if we care too much about nature?
• Ben: Kids/generational always connected -- hard to talk about the future with them… I feel sad for them and people don’t see the signs (don’t see the signs of our action). Here in Quebec, starting my Pool (mid-May) 29 degrees hot.
